SAVE THE DATE MAY 31, 2025

YOUR Park, YOUR Day, Celebrate in any way!

Our Pitch In for the Parks season of citywide park clean-ups runs June through October each year. We kick it all off with a special event called It's Your Park Day.

It’s Your Park Day is a community clean-up day across dozens of Chicago parks! Most groups will spend their event doing a trash pick-up. Events hosted by Park Advisory Councils (PACs) may include additional activities like tree mulching, playground woodchip replenishment, and more.

Free, fun, family-friendly.

2025 Host & Volunteer Registration Coming April 23rd

  • Anyone can host an IYPD event!

2025 host registration first opens to Park Advisory Councils from March 31st through April 23rd. PACs may contact volunteer@chicagoparksfoundation.org to register to host.

Starting April 23rd, community members can register to host IYPD trash pick-up events at parks of their choice. Registration information will be listed here for community members (i.e. non-PAC groups) after 4/23.

If a PAC has already claimed a park, CPF will connect the interested group with that PAC to collaborate. If the park is unclaimed, CPF will connect the two groups to see if the PAC is interested by helping to host additional activities (mulch and playground Fibar replenishment).

  • All IYPD events are open for the public to join as volunteers. Each event needs a host to serve as the point of contact.

Hosts help promote the volunteer registration link, receive the supply delivery, and independently lead the event on May 31st.

CPF creates and manages your volunteer registration page, delivers supplies directly to your home or park, and communicates via email to coordinate your event.

    Supplies include:

    • trash bags

    • reusable gloves

    • promotional signage

    • optional mulch and tools for PACs

  • It’s YOUR Park Day wouldn’t be possible without volunteers! All IYPD events are public events. Free, fun, and family friendly. All ages welcome.

We recommend volunteers register online in advance, although walk-ups are also welcome. When you register online, you will complete a safety waiver.

IYPD parks will be listed here for volunteer registration starting April 23rd.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER IYPD?

We keep pitching in - and we hope you'll join us!

IYPD kicks off our Pitch In for the Parks (PIFTP) program running June through October. Just like IYPD, we provide hosting PIFTP groups with complimentary supplies to independently host trash pick-ups - but PIFTP events can be at the park, date(s), and time(s) of your choice June-October. Or organize a Green Teams volunteer event for your corporate group at a park in need!
