Meet the Green Team: Codal

Codal joined us for a Green Teams clean-up on June 16th at Garfield Park.

Codal helps transform businesses into streamlined, supportive, and proactive operations through cutting-edge UX design and software development. As an experience-first agency, Codal focuses on creating innovative digital experiences by blending data-driven design with their intelligent Agile process.

After recently starting a company sustainability club, Codal connected with the Chicago Parks Foundation as a way to plan a club outing that would impact nature. A park clean-up day was the perfect idea!

Why is volunteering for the parks important to your organization?

We started our sustainability club because we were all individually passionate about the environment, but felt we could make a bigger impact as a group than on our own. We all want a cleaner world to live in, and we felt like cleaning up the parks was something we could do that was close to home.

During the pandemic, we spent a lot of time in the parks. They're a great community location that we felt we owed something back to.

How does your organization’s mission relate to the work you’re doing with CPF?

Our organization seeks to help businesses create engaging products. With CPF we're still helping people, but we're helping to create a better environment.

Share a highlight of your clean-up event experience.

I really wished we'd taken a before and after photo of the playground we mulched. It was very rewarding to see the difference. The best part was seeing a little girl come over to play on the playground while we were mulching. It allowed us a chance to meet the people who will benefit from a cleaner park.

Thank you for pitching in, Codal!
