Why is volunteering for the parks important to your organization?

Volunteering for the parks is important to our organization because it allows us to have an impact on the local communities and ecosystems that we operate in. Cleaning and preserving our local park spaces enable the local community to fully enjoy the public spaces that are available to them. Supporting the parks also helps protect and preserve local ecosystems that are present in Chicago's unique habitats. It also allows our employees an opportunity to engage with local community organizations and make a difference close to where they’re located.

How does your organization’s mission relate to the work you’re doing with CPF?

Our mission at VelocityEHS is to make the world’s workplaces safer and more sustainable. Our mission also applies internally to make our own workplace(s) safer and more sustainable. Our work with CPF allows us to provide opportunities for our employees to be sustainable, to engage in causes they believe in, and to benefit the local communities we operate in.

Share a highlight of your clean-up event experience.

We cleaned out and recycled a lot of glass bottles, aluminum cans and fishing equipment near natural habitats that would have otherwise been overlooked. We were lucky to see some neat wildlife in the process like: turtles, butterflies and birds. It was a gorgeous day!

Thank you for getting outside with us, VelocityEHS!
