Partner Spotlight: Boxed Water™

Boxed Water pitches in.

The Chicago Parks Foundation has been proud to keep all of our park lovers hydrated with Boxed Water cartons since 2018. Over the years, Boxed Water’s in-kind support has benefitted our It’s Your Park Day, Green Teams, and Pitch In for the Parks volunteers, as well as our Team ChiParks runners, event attendees, and dedicated CPF members. We appreciate Boxed Water’s commitment to the planet and their emphasis on local impact.

Who is Boxed Water?

At Boxed Water™, we obsess over providing the purest water in the most sustainable way. Our award-winning water is packaged in the most renewable option you’ll find in the water aisle. The 92% plant-based cartons are also 100% recyclable, refillable, and BPA free.

Our headquarters is located just across the water in Michigan. Our founder is from Chicago, and we have a strong contingent of sales and marketing employees based in the area and spreading the word about Boxed Water and our sustainability mission!

Boxed Water works with the National Forest Foundation. Together we have planted over 1 million trees to-date. It's a simple program driven by social media. Simply post a picture of Boxed Water with the hashtag #BetterPlanet and we'll plant 2 trees for you.

We also work with the Ocean Blue Project to clean up beaches across the country. Plastic waste is the number one found item and the prevalence of microplastics has grown. We've hosted events from coast to coast towards our goal of cleaning 3,000 miles of beaches.

How does your team support local communities in Chicago?

We partner with like-minded local nonprofits that address compelling issues such as sustainability, environmentalism, health & innovation.

We are very passionate about sustainability and lessening the use of single use plastic. We have supported many nonprofits in Chicago such as stocking Community Love Fridges in Chicago neighborhoods with Boxed Water and by providing Boxed Water for events, meetings and volunteer activities, which in turn helps eliminate the use of plastic water bottles.

How does your team's mission relate to the work you’re doing with the Chicago Parks Foundation?

The work the Chicago Parks Foundation is doing helps to provide clean, safe and accessible parks in all Chicago neighborhoods. Boxed Water is passionate about keeping green spaces clean & safe for all to enjoy. Our cartons have 36% less carbon emissions than plastic bottles. The health of our planet - and in turn our parks - can be improved by small changed to our daily habits.

Boxed Water has been working with the Chicago Parks Foundation since 2018, providing water for the volunteers working on the Green Teams park clean-up program and for many past special events like It's Your Park Day.

What makes parks important to Chicago?

Chicago has an incredible park system and it's amazing there are 600+ parks in the city of Chicago! So many parks in an urban landscape is truly wonderful and Chicago parks are an essential part of the city's landscape. Our team did a clean-up in Washington Park in the Hyde Park neighborhood, and it was amazing to work together to clean up the litter in the park. We felt very accomplished after spending a few hours picking up the liter and leaving the park in better shape!

YOU CAN PITCH IN, TOO!

Thanks to the generous support of our Green Teams, the Chicago Parks Foundation equips thousands of volunteers with free supplies for our Pitch In for the Parks citywide program.

Stay tuned for how to get involved in the 2023 season! Our Green Teams and Pitch In for the Parks clean-ups run June through October.

You can also join us with a gift or become a Chicago Parks Foundation Member! Your support helps make vital park programming like Pitch In for the Parks possible. When you invest in the parks, you invest in the communities who love and depend on them.
