Stay Home, Save Lives
Our parks will be waiting for you.
We ask that you please work with us and our Mayor to make the parks, our city, and our world a better and safer place for the future. We thank you for your patience and support.
At this time in accordance with the state-wide "stay at home" order, the entire Lakefront Trail and adjacent parks, the Chicago Riverwalk, and the 606 Trail have been closed until further notice. Contact sports like basketball and football are also prohibited.
All Chicago Park District fieldhouses and playgrounds remain closed, and all Chicago Park District programming remains suspended.
“While our parks and other green spaces offer residents a brief respite during this stay at home order, we simply must take action to prevent the large gatherings that are putting our public health at risk,” said Mayor Lightfoot on March 26th.
We remind you that you are still able to go for short walks or runs, but preferably within your own neighborhood. Safe physical distance from others must be maintained, and we should stay home as much as possible.
It's our job now as Chicagoans to abide by the rules put in place to protect us all. We're in this together, and all of our parks will be safely waiting for you when brighter days return.
Be well,
The Chicago Parks Foundation
